島根県斐川町にある出西窯に行ってきました。
出西(しゅっさい)とは出雲の西という意味で、1947年、袖師や丹波、益子、唐津などで 修行を積んだ地元出身の5人の青年によって開陶されたそうですが、のどかな山間にあります。
自宅でもいくつか使っていますが、食器の厚みと色がいい感じです。私は特に青が好きです。
展示販売所は古い土蔵を移築再生した建物で屋根の梁などはとても立派です。
工房も見せてもらいましたが、奥にある登り窯は神棚が飾ってあっておごそかな雰囲気でした。
少し足を延ばして出雲大社に寄ってみました。神楽殿のりっぱな注連縄に圧倒されました。本殿は60年ぶりの屋根の修復中でテントに覆われていて見学できませんでした。来年の5月にきれに蘇った本殿が公開される予定のようです。
隣の県ですが、出雲大社に行ったのは2回目でした。今回は山陰道がさらに延長されていて、気楽に行けてドライブがてら訪れるにはちょうど良かったです。
